Have been getting quite a few telephone calls from individuals and their family members trying to get some Recovery Help. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Please schedule a Drug & Alcohol Evaluation as soon as possible. In order to gain access to services from any licensed treatment program in the state of North Dakota a person needs two things that come from this. A. A diagnosis from the DSM that pretty much determines that yes someone has a problem with drugs or alcohol. Please keep in mind that there is a definite difference between use/ abuse and addiction. B The ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine)Placement Reccomendations. North Dakota utilizes the ASAM Placement Criteria in order to best meet the needs of the individual. The spirit and intent of this is supposed to be "least restrictive environment conducive to meet the needs of the client". In short, sometimes the LAC will reccomend that an individual get to community based support group meetings, sometimes the reccomendation will be Outpatient (live at home, keep working and be with famil and we will get together on this day at this time...) Sometimes it is a reccomendation for residential treatment of which there are 3 different levels of care:
A. Low Intensity Residential ( 3,1)
B. Medium Intensity Residential (3.5)
C. High Intensity Residential (3.7)
In order to meet the criteria for admission into the PRC we need a 3.1 ASAM Placement Reccomendation! Please keep in mind that its not like the "Old Days" when a person could just walk in and say okay I am here ready to check in....
2. I always remind people that they don't need to be in "Treatment to be in Recovery". In order to get from this day to the day of the Drug & Alcohol Evaluation. And get from the day of that appointment to the day of actual admission. Please keep in mind that there are times when service providers are back logged or might be scheduled out for a week or even a month. The PRC does provide onsite appointment to get this done every Wednesday of the week. our # is 701-862-3682 if we are booked out or you need something done sooner than we can accomodate you then I always inform individuals that they can call our one of our regional Human Service Center 1-888-470-6968 North Central Human Service Center. The Circle of Life in New Town 701-627-4700 or ADAPT Inc.701-471-2033.
I hope this is some what informative and helpful to our community at large.
